WHY GO

With an open floor plan and bright interiors dotted by plenty of orchids and some terracotta soldiers, dining at Borobudur Hotel’s Teratai Chinese Restaurant is a genial affair best shared with the loved ones. A glass-walled kitchen on one corner gives ample views over the chefs preparing beautifully browned Peking duck alongside many other winning creations.

TATLER TIPS

Direct from Hong Kong, Executive Chinese Chef Alex Kwok is the mastermind behind the contemporary touches found behind Teratai’s fresh look over the years. On the weekend side, Chinese Dim Sum Chef Steven Low has livened up Hong Kong’s yum cha tradition on Sundays with trendy creations such as molten salted egg bun.

  • • The Dim Sum is especially recommended during Teratai’s Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch to be savoured with large groups of friends and family, beloved specialties include har gao and mushroom-shaped buns.
  • • Peking Duck: Expertly prepared by seasoned chefs, this beloved classic Chinese menu is decidedly crispy on the paper-thin skin while tender on the relatively fat-free meat.
  • • A must-try is the Goose Liver. Teratai’s celebrity chef combines Western and Chinese cooking with foie gras sauced by smooth, sweet and slightly sour applesauce together with juicy prawns.
