We know that Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair). And in Jakarta, one of the most festive celebrations was recently held at Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta.
Yes, Aryaduta Oktoberfest just recently returned for the 29th times this year, in the middle of September. Aryaduta 29th Oktoberfest is a celebration of rich brewing history, and this beer festival has become one of the most anticipated events among the residents of Jakarta.
Great brew was of course the most important part of the celebration, and the event was such a blast! Sponsored by Lufthansa, Mama's Delicatessen, Bauer, Heineken and other top brands, in this event guests were spotted enjoying some great ice-cold beers with the traditional smorgasbord of sausages and ‘wursts’ as well as goulash, weisswurst, and bretzn, Bavarian sweets, while listening to some quirky folk music.
In Germany, the event is referred to as Wiesn and around the world celebrated as Oktoberfest. The largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany is said to be in the twin cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario, followed by Blumenau, Brazil and Cincinnati, Ohio. But the center of good cheer is Munich where on average one million people swarm to during its first weekend.
Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta itself successfully transformed its ballroom into a folk village, they even had the folk music band to add a dash of an authenticity to the festival. “Next year will be our 30th annual Oktoberfest here at the hotel, and with that comes some true heritage,” says Aryaduta general manager, Michael Munro. “We expect three decades from now the event will be going equally as strong.”
