Hotel Indonesia Kempinski is holding its popular street-food festival once again to celebrate Independence Day. From August 11 to 31, diners can enjoy authentic culinary experiences at Signatures restaurant. The street-food vendors, who will cook up more than 30 dishes from bakso to satay to rujak, will be presented in a buffet and on food stalls set up at the restaurant and its al fresco terrace. As part of Independence Day celebrations, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta is inviting diners to savour a special menu at its Palm Court restaurant, namely Nasi Tumpeng: steamed coconut and turmeric rice, prawn balado, beef rendang, beef and chicken satay, potato cake and urap sayur, served with sayur kacang merah, sambal and assorted crackers. Meanwhile, the hotel’s cake boutique, La Patisserie, is also offering a special creation by pastry chef Lorenzo Sollecito. His Merdeka Cake is made up of coconut mousse and soft Melaka sugar cremoux sitting on a heavenly bed of pandan sponge. The special promotion runs from August 13 to 31. From August 10 to 20, seven Marriott International hotels in Jakarta are participating in an “Indonesia Culinary Journey 2017” following last year's great success. The menu at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta's Sailendra Restaurant, in particular, will include Chef Ridwan Maulana’s winning dish from an internal chef competition. His Nasi Tutug Oncom with Gepuk Sambal Kecombrang that comes from his family’s West Java recipe truly represents Indonesia’s rich flavours, especially for those who can take the heat of the savoury chili sauce.
